Introducing Rocco

Ok, here he is- the newest potential member of our family. His name is Rocco and he is 4 years old.
His sad story starts when he was dumped at the shelter after 4 years because his parents couldn't afford him (don't get me started) and Barks of Love rescue group found him about 6 months ago. He has been with a foster mom since. Apparently behind that cute little face lies a bossy, stubborn little brat. He has scared off 2 adopters already- one called the foster mom at 3 am to come get him. How could this sweet boy be so evil?
I guess we will find out soon! Did you ever see the movie Cujo?
I drove to Lake Forest last Sat to meet him for the first time. He was very shy. I did manage to get a few kisses but he was reserved and stuck close to his foster mom. I listened as she listed off a long list of his issues-he likes to hump because he wants to be dominant,  he likes to mark his territory (fun!), he likes to bark when he is left in a new place and he doesn't like to be touched on his belly or feet and has to be muzzled to be groomed. He is really attached to his foster mom and may sit by the door waiting for her to come pick him up for a few days (go ahead- break my heart little man). And he can be grouchy (growling) if he doesn't get his way.  Lovely....what are we getting ourselves into????
After I met him I called Dino and told him all the flaws and told him he was not going to be an easy dog. The first words out of his mouth were "it sounds like he needs us- let's adopt him".  Is it a wonder why I married that man? He has the biggest heart.  The problem is that he is the softie when it comes to the dogs so he will have to work on that. He is usually the good guy but he will have to just be the good guy alpha now.
We bought the kennel, the dog bed and some toys for him and now we are just waiting. They are doing a home check on Thurs. and we are meeting with his foster mom on Saturday morning. Wish us luck and I will try to update you on his progress.
